Description: A caracterização sedimentar teve como base descrições deamostras de fundo de dois tipos, superficials e de testemunhos, sendo que dos testemunhos utilizou-se apenas a parte superficial. Foram consultados 4.509 registros de amostras de superffcie e 215 descrições de testemunhos coletados por navios estrangeiros e dos cruzeiros Revizee (Norte e Nordeste), Geomar, Tensa(DHN),Amasseds, Victor Hense, Meteor (diversos cruzeiros) e outros.
